Self-Portrait Silhouettes!

6th Grade, 6th Rotation

Students used symbols of their personality, family heritage, and culture in order to create a self-portrait silhouette.
 









 

Vietnamese Y-Tree Landscapes

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester
Completed May 25th, 2017

Students were inspired by the landscape paintings of Vietnamese artist (and Mrs. Nhu's great-uncle in-law) Dinh Cuong. Students then created a background with a gradated sky and/or mountains. After that they learned the Y-tree technique for painting winter trees with a variety of brush sizes.

Textured Self-Portraits

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester
Completed May 22nd, 2017

Students learned how to draw the human face in correct proportion and observed a photograph of themselves in order to create a self-portrait. Students then used texture plates with crayons to fill their portraits with colors and patterns that reflected their personalities.
