African Inspired Masks

Students used oil pastels to design their own African inspired mask that incorporated geometric shapes which are so prevalent in all African art.

Crazy Shaped Color Wheels!

6th Grade, 5th Rotation
Completed Mar. 6th, 2017

Students chose an interesting shape and drew a contour line drawing of it, then divided it into 12 sections. Students then learned to mix their own secondary and intermediate colors with only the 3 primary colors and painted in their color wheel sections in rainbow order.

Indonesian Inspired Batiks

Students used a wax resist and watercolor technique to create an Indonesian inspired floral pattern similar to batik fabric.

Clay Effigy Pinch Pots

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester
Completed Mar. 1st, 2017

Students used the pinch technique to make a small, Sculpey clay pot or inspired by Native American effigy pots. Students then painted their pinch pots with acrylics.
