Impressionist Memory Paintings

6th Grade, 3rd Quarter
Completed Jan. 22nd, 2016

Students chose a memory to illustrate while using perspective techniques (overlapping, size, and placement) to create a sense of depth and space. Students added texture and color with a unique watercolor marker and wax resist technique in order to make it look more impressionist than realistic.

Students created an Abstract Expressionist work of 3-D paper art that focused on the Elements and Principles of design.

Grid Self-Portraits

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester
Completed Jan. 19th, 2016

Students learned how to use a grid to draw a large, realistic portrait of themselves while looking at a small photograph.
















Rainbow Mexican Suns

6th Grade, 3rd Quarter
Completed Jan. 15th, 2016

Students created their own sun design inspired by the art of Aztec and Huichol tribes of Mexico. Students then used markers in rainbow order colors to create a striking pattern and visual effect.
