Watercolor Still Life Paintings

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester
Completed Apr. 13th, 2015

Students learned several different watercolor techniques and incorporated at least 5 of them into a still life painting from direct observation. Students also used colored pencil and/or oil pastel to add shading, details, and outlines to finish the piece.

Aztec & Huichol Inspired Rainbow Suns

6th Grade, 4th Quarter
Completed Apr. 8th, 2015

Students created their own sun design inspired by the art of Aztec and Huichol tribes of Mexico. Students then used markers and rainbow colors to create a striking pattern and visual effect.

2-Point Perspective Cityscapes

Students learned 2-point linear perspective to draw a 3-D city street corner.

Crazy Shaped Color Wheels

6th Grade, 4th Quarter
Completed Apr. 1st, 2015

Students chose an interesting shape and drew a contour line drawing of it, then divided it into 12 sections. Students then learned to mix their own secondary and intermediate colors with only the 3 primary colors and painted in their color wheel sections in rainbow order.
