Textured Self-Portraits

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester

Completed May 22nd, 2017

Students learned how to draw the human face in correct proportion and observed a photograph of themselves in order to create a self-portrait. Students then used texture plates with crayons to fill their portraits with colors and patterns that reflected their personalities.

 

Memory Poem Inspired Artwork

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester

Students wrote a 5 sentence poem about either memories from their childhood or memories from this past school year. They then incorporated all of those memories into a unified and cohesive work of art!

 

 

Chinese Shadow Puppets!

6th Grade, 6th Rotation

Students observed the intricate detail and artistic beauty of Chinese Shadow puppets for inspiration. They then used pattern, texture, and contrast to create their own individual shadow puppet with metallic etching board.

 

 

1-Point Perspective Cityscapes!

6th Grade, 6th Rotation

Students learned shading techniques and 1-point linear as well as atmospheric perspective to draw their own invented cityscape.

 

 

Abstract Expressionist Collages

7th & 8th Grade, 2nd Semester

Completed May 11th, 2017

Students learned about Abstract Expressionism and created their own Abstract Expressionist collage using Complementary and Analogous color triad schemes.
