Rainbow Suns!

6th Grade, 2nd Rotation

Students created their own sun design inspired by the art of Aztecs and Huichol tribes of Mexico. Students then used markers and rainbow colors to create a striking pattern and visual effect.

Crazy Shaped Color Wheels

6th Grade, 2nd Rotation
Completed Oct. 4th, 2016

Students chose an interesting shape and drew a contour line drawing of it, then divided it into 12 sections. Students then learned to mix their own secondary and intermediate colors with only the 3 primary colors and painted in their color wheel sections in rainbow order.











Franz Marc Expressionist Paintings

7th & 8th Grade, 1st Semester
Completed Oct. 6th, 2016

Students created their own abstract painting inspired by German artist, Franz Marc. Students used color to express mood and emotion rather than reality. Students also used patterns to enhance their designs.

African Kente Cloth Patterns

7th & 8th Grade, 1st Semester
Completed Sept. 30th, 2016

Students used oil pastels to design their own African inspired Kente Cloth pattern that used geometric shapes and colors to represent their history, values, and/or beliefs.
